Electrician dies due to electrocution at Talaghattapura apartment; Autopsy of 10-year-old victim finally completed

BENGALURU: A day after a 10-year-old body died due to electrocution after coming in contact with a high-tension power line in KR Pura, a 55-year-old man was electrocuted to death at Suvida Apartment complex in Talaghattapura on Saturday.

The victim Shivaraj K S (55), an electrician, was checking the electricity connection from a transformer to the apartment complex when he was electrocuted. However, both the apartment association and the Bescom authorities have denied any responsibility for the death.

However, family members of Shivaraj alleged that he was sent near the transformer to check the electricity connection when he was electrocuted. They refused to shift the body for post-mortem examination and demanded that a case should be registered against the apartment association and that the family should be compensated.

The Kaggalipura police were at the spot and trying to convice the family members to shift the body for autopsy. Further details were awaited.

Ananth died after he was electrocuted by an high-tension power line outside a building in KR Pura.

In another incident, 10-year-old Ananth died on Friday after he came in contact with a high-tension power line in KR Pura six days ago. Based on a complaint from the boy’s mother, the police have registered a case against the building owner, KPTCL, Bescom engineers and a BBMP assistant engineer.

However, the post-mortem examination was delayed by several hours and the staff at the Victoria Hospital mortuary had not received a copy of the FIR. The family members alleged that the police were deliberately delaying the procedure.

Ananth died around 11.30 am on Friday, but the FIR was filed only a good eight hours later. The FIR copy was provided to the Victoria Hospital staff only around 3 pm on Saturday and the post-mortem examination was conducted nearly 30 hours after the boy’s death. Finally, the remains were handed over to the family for conducting the last rites.
