BENGALURU: Pedestrians are facing difficulties and danger to their lives as the footpath at Cauvery junction is occupied by a junction box which has fallen, leaving the cables exposed. The junction box belongs to a private telecom company.
Though the junction box fell several days ago, the authorities have not removed it, which is causing a hazard for pedestrians. who are forced to step on to the road which witnesses heavy traffic.
A Bescom transformer near the telecom juncton box also poses a risk of short circuits and electrocution as it is on the footpath with exposed wires and OFC cables. The authorities have been requested to remove the box and restore the footpath to ensure the safety of pedestrians.
A local resident, Ayushi, said, “This is my regular route to my office. We have been facing power supply, network problems at our office for the last two days. This is very dangerous to for pedestrians. It is raining heavily and could cause a short circuit or any untoward incidents. Before any such thing happens, the authorities concerned should fix the problem.”
Another pedestrian, Ravishankar, said, “Of course, all these exposed electric wires are a danger for pedestrians. The BBMP should take care of all these things. It is a danger to old people and children. It could lead to big disasters at any time”.
