BENGALURU: The Election Commission is giving special attention to Bengaluru Urban district where about 19 of the 28 Assembly constituencies have been identified as sensitive. There will be 8,600 polling booths in all the constituency put together and the Election Commission plans to install CCTV cameras in at least 50 per cent of booths for live streaming in order to prevent electoral malpractices.
The Commission is also making preparations for election-related activities such as demonstration of VVPAT, identifying polling booths and taking up awareness programmes.
Briefing about the preparations for the upcoming Assembly election, Special Commissioner (Election) Ujwal Kumar Ghosh said, “We have planned live-streaming from 50 per cent of the polling booths. All critical poling stations will be covered by web broadcast or live streaming, micro observer (appointed by Central government), installing cameras and CPF deployment. The Commission is taking up awareness campaigns to ensure 100 per cent voting in these sensitive constituencies. We have instructed the authorities to deploy additional police forces as a precautionary measures to prevent any trouble at the polling booths”.
The sensitive constituencies in Bengaluru Urban are Anekal, Bengaluru South, Mahadevapura, K R Puram, Hebbal, Sarvajna Nagar, C V Raman Nagar, Shantinagar, Shivajinagar, Chamarajpet, Chickpet, Padmanabha Nagar, Jayanagar, Bommanahalli, BTM Layout, Yeshwantpur, Malleswaram, Dasarahalli and Rajarajeshwari Nagar.
