Election Commission on 3-day visit to inspect preliminary preparation in K’taka

BENGALURU: Election Commission of India Chief Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with other senior officials, will visit the state for three days on March 9, 10 and 11 to inspect the preliminary preparations for the Karnataka Assembly election which is due soon.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar will visit state for three days on March 9, 10 and 11.

Senior officials in the Election Commission of India, including Anoop Chandrapande, Arun Goyal and Deputy Commissioners, will visit the state. On the first day, the officials will arrive in Bengaluru in the afternoon. They will hold a meeting with senior officials of Karnataka, including the Chief Electoral Officer, about the preparation for the election in the state. Another meeting will be held separately with the representatives of the different political parties regarding the upcoming Assembly election, mainly to seek their advice and opinions.

In the evening on the first day, they will participate in an international seminar on ‘Inclusiveness and Integrity of Democracy,’ which will be held at the Hotel Taj West End. Election commissioners of many democratic countries will participate in this seminar in person and some others will join through video conference.

The team will inspect the preliminary preparations for the Karnataka Vidhana Sabha Election.

On the second day, a meeting will be held with the 34 district election officers of the state regarding the preliminary election preparations. In the evening, after inaugurating a special exhibition on voter awareness, a hackathon organised by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike will be held at Tata Hall at IISc in the city. After the inauguration, LED vehicles will be launched to create voter awareness. Many dignitaries, including election ambassadors, students, disabled persons and heads of educational institutions will participate in the symposium.

On the third day, they will hold a press conference in the afternoon before returning to New Delhi in the evening.
