The woman farmer bought the ox with the savings from the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.

BELAGAVI: An elderly woman from Tavaga village in Gokak taluk has bought an ox with the money she had saved up from the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.

Basavva Bulli, a farmer, paid Rs 22,000 for the ox from her Gruha Lakshmi savings. She and her husband earlier had only one ox and now they have a pair which will help in their farming activities.

The couple now has a pair of oxen.

The couple, who have no offspring, are small farmers. Mahantesh Kadadi, who is the president of the guarantee schemes implementation committee in Gokak taluk, visited the Basavva’s house and also financially helped the couple in a personal capacity.
