BENGALURU: The Education Department has initiated the process to ban social media for children under the age of 16. A committee has been formed to study the feasibility of the ban and submit a report.
The committee, comprising Education department officials, experts and parents, will study the impact of social media on children and suggest alternatives. They will also examine the systems in place in other countries and recommend implementation strategies for schools and homes.
The committee is expected to submit its report within 2-3 months, and the government will decide on the ban based on their recommendations. The report will cover aspects such as:The format for banning social media for children under 16.
