BENGALURU: The investigation into the alleged irregularities in site allocation during the tenure of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is gaining momentum. Initially, it was reported that 1,095 sites were allocated illegally. However, further investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has revealed that 4,921 sites were allocated irregularly.
The civic body has illegally allocated sites in layouts in the ratio of 60:40. Additionally, documents have been manipulated to support these changes. The investigation has revealed that MUDA site allotment scam is worth Rs 2,800 crore, according to the ED.
The ED probe has also revealed that real estate developers were involved in the illegal allocation of sites. The former commissioner of MUDA was involved in the scam and developers and realtors had allegedly colluded with the bureaucrats to allocate sites irregularly, the probe has revealed.
The investigation has found that sites coming under gram panchayats were also acquired and converted as layouts.
