BENGALURU, CHIKKABALLAPUR: The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Thursday raided properties linked to Congress MLA S N Subba Reddy in the city in a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case. The officials conducted raids at five locations in Bengaluru.
The raids were part of a nationwide search conducted at 37 locations including Delhi and Mumbai. Subba Reddy has business interests in Malaysia and has several houses and high-end cars in the names of his relatives.
A team of 13 ED officials landed at Subba Reddy’s Marathalli residence in three cars at 7 am. They also searched a hospital, run by the Congress MLA. The central agency also conducted a search at Bhagini Hospitality Pvt Ltd, run by Subba Reddy. Howevere, no searches were conducted at his home office on Gulur Road in Bagepalli town of Chikkaballapur district.
Meanwhile, officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) raided the residence of Congress leader Krishnappa a.k.a Jolada Kittappa, who is a close aide of MLA Pradeep Eshwar.
A team of over 20 officials searched the house and inspected documents from morning. They also searched the houses of Krishnappa’s relatives. The Congress leader is involved in export and import of popcorn-grade maize.
