BELAGAVI: A woman who was dumped by her boyfriend and rejected by her husband, staged a protest in front of the former’s house at Kittur along with her family members. Later, acting on her complaint, the police arrested the boyfriend.
The woman was in a relationship with Muthuraj Itagi, a resident of Nekar Colony for six years and the two were also physically intimate. He later dumped her stating that his family is not agreeable to their marriage. Following this, the woman got into an arranged marriage.
However, on the first day of her marriage last week, Muthuraj shared private videos of him with the woman to her newlywed husband. Following this, the husband disowned the woman. With nowhere else to go, the woman staged a protest in front of Muthuraj’s house with a bottle of poison in her hand. Her parents also demanded that Muthuraj accept her as his wife, but were refused.
Following a complaint from the woman alleging harassment and defamation by leaking private videos and photos, the police arrested Muthuraj and booked him under Sections 143, 147, 417, 376, 323, 504 and 506 of the IPC. The woman has also named Muthuraj’s father Basavaraj, mother Nagarathna, sisters Chennamma, Latha, Shivaleela, Hema and Nethra in her complaint.
