Dump of explosive material, acids, found in blast suspect’s Mysuru house

BENGALURU: Hours after a low-intensity blast occurred in a moving autorickshaw in Mangaluru on Saturday, the passenger, who has suffered serious burn injuries, has been identified as the person who carried out the blast.

According to top Intelligence sources, the investigating agencies have searched his house on 10th Cross, Lokanayaka nagar, Metagalli, Mysuru, and found explosive material, circuit boards, sulphuric acid, some other chemicals, small bolts, batteries, mobile displays, wooden powder, aluminium foil, multimeter, wires, mixer jars, pressure cooker whistles, and a lot of other material dumped in the room.

They found one mobile phone, two fake Aadhaar cards, one fake PAN card, one Fino debit card, an unused SIM card and a notebook with circuit drawings. The investigators have not disturbed the dump as explosive material were found dumped.

When the investigators showed a picture of the injured autorickshaw passenger to the house owner M Mohan Kumar, he identified the individual and said that he had been given a single room on a monthly rent for Rs 1,800. In the rental agreement copy, the suspect has mentioned his name as Prem Raj, son of Maruthi, and has given a Hubballi address.

On Saturday night, the investigators have sent a team to secure one more person from T Narsipur near Mysuru who was regularly in contact with the suspect.

Forensic experts are at the spot where the low-intensity blast occurred and further investigations are on.
