Drunk techie stabs wife and son suspecting her fidelity, then attempts suicide

BENGALURU: A software engineer stabbed his wife and son with a knife in a drunken stupor, suspecting her fidelity, and later attempted suicide in R R Nagar last Friday.

The accused is Sri Harsha and victims are his wife Sudharani and 8-year-old son Pranav. All are stable and undergoing treatment in hospital.

Police sources said that the couple are software engineers by profession. Sri Harsha hails from Tumakuru and has been working since last 13 years. After his marriage with with Sudharani, they shifted to R R Nagar as Harsha got a job in a reputed software company in Bengaluru.

As the days passed, Harsha started to harass her, suspecting her character. He always threatened of stabbing her even for trivial reason and used to assault her every day. A case was registered at Rajarajeshwari Nagar police station against three people, including Harsha. According to Sudharani’s brother Chandrashekhar’s complaint, Harsha tried to kill his wife several times.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Laxman Nimbargi said as per the complaint registered by Sudharani’s brother, the accuse Harsha was an engineer, but got addicted to alcohol, left his job and sold some of his property. He always used to carry knife with him. On March 16, the couple fought with each other and that night, Harsha stabbed his wife in the neck, then stabbed their 8-year-old son and later attempted suicide. Now, all are out of danger and undergoing treatment at hospital”.
