Dress rehearsal for Aero India vows crowds, airport traffic affected

BENGALURU: Ahead of the Aero India 2023, which kickstarts from February 13, the skies over north Bengaluru witnessed the metal birds roar during the rehearsals .

On Saturday morning, the Tejas fighter jet, the Dakota, Rudra helicopters dotted the skies and carried out various aerobatic manoeuvres. The full dress rehearsals were carried out from 9.30 am to 11.55 am at the Yelahanka Air Force Station. A flypast was also held between 9.30 am and 9.40 pm. The Rafale for 10 minutes while the Dakota flew for about 15 minutes.

The Dhruv helicopters performed various rmanoeuvres.

The Kempegwoda International Airport Road witnessed heavy traffic jam for kilometres during the rehearsals as people stopped to catch a glimpse of the winged wonders. Those heading to the airport were badly affected as they got stuck in slow-moving traffic.

“I had seen it only on TV all along, and I’m really happy that I got to see the air show from up close this time. I like the Suryakiran display the most. I want to visit again when the air show opens”, said one spectator.

“We enjoyed a lot. We had planned to visit on earlier occasions too, but couldn’t. This was a good opporunity”, said another spectator.

“It was a thrilling experience. We want to thank our teachers for bringing us here, said Yashaswini, a student of Morarji Desai Residential School from Devanahalli taluk.
