BENGALURU: Fed up with the pathetic state of affairs, residents of Dommasandra and commuters have urged the government to complete the construction work of the flyover from Dommasandra Circle in Sarjapura via Hoskote to Varthur in the city at the earliest.

Two-and-half years ago, due to traffic congestion on Dommasandra Road, the government invited tenders for the construction of a flyover from Dommasandra Circle in Sarjapur to Bommasandra in Varthur. The residents and commuters have urged the Karnataka Road Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) officials to complete the work, but the authorities have not responded.

The construction of flyover started two-and-half years ago.

Residents have expressed outrage over the poor maintenance of the road and there are a large number of schools around Dommasandra and Sarjapur. Every morning, school buses and students have to travel through this junction, but they get stuck due to traffic congestion. The iron bars for the construction of the flyover are rusting and getting damaged. Residents, shop and hotel owners are unable to carry on with their business due to the dust, but no one has responded to their demands.

“The work was started around two-and-half years ago, but there have been no safety measures taken and the officials are irresponsible. They are working slowly and traffic congestion continues from morning to evening. There are numerous schools around, and children are suffering from respiratory problems as a result of the dust. Many people have been involved in accidents due to road potholes”, said Rajat, a local resident.
