BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has dropped the plans to install digital display boards at bus stations. Work on installing the display boards had already been suspended for the last 3-4 months.
The digital display boards give the bus number, route, arrival, platform number and map, which made it easy for passengers, especially newcomers to the city. The display boards at Majestic and Shivajinagar bus terminals have gone completely blank and the transport utility seems to have completely given up the plan to install such boards at other bus stations across the city.
“I had to go to Nelamangala, but I had to wait for a bus for more than one hour. If the digital display boards were functioning, it would have helped. We request the authorities to restore the digital display”, said Farida, a commuter.
“We can’t figure out the bus timings properly. Earlier, we would know when the buses would arrive and keep our families informed. Now, with no information, we have no clue about when buses are available”, said Shefali, a student.
Another student, Pruthvi, said, “The digital displays are needed as we would know when the buses would arrive. Now, we have to struggle in the mornings to reach college as the buses are crowded”.
