BELAGAVI: The 70th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations were held with grandeur in Belagavi. However, a major mishap was narrowly averted at the Belagavi district stadium when the jeep which was to carry district in-charge minister Satish Jarkiholi for the parade inspection developed a diesel leak.
The incident occurred after the flag-hoisting ceremony, just as the minister was about to board the jeep. The Fire and Emergency Services team quickly sprang into action, spraying fire-control gas to prevent a fire outbreak. The jeep was subsequently pushed out of the ground.
Despite the incident, the minister attended the event and offered prayers to the Bhuvaneshwari statue. The event featured an attractive parade by police, KSRP troops, NCC, Scouts, and school students.
Due to the diesel leak, the minister did not inspect the parade, but instead watched the attractive procession from a distance. The event was attended by MLA Asif Seth, DC Mohammed Roshan, ZP CEO Rahul Shinde and Police Commissioner Bhushan Borase, among others.
