Dhanveer sent Darshan’s jail video to his aide; Jail officials prepare report on mobile use

BENGALURU: In a significant turn in the video leak case at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail, actor Dhanveer admitted during questioning by police that he sent the video of Darshan enjoying VIP facilities in jail to the star’s aide. It emerged that a video had indeed been sent but no videos were found on Dhanveer’s mobile.

He said that he received some videos from someone and forwarded them to an unknown person; he did not send them to anyone else, the actor said. After sending the video, all the related details were deleted. The police have retrieved the ‘off‑the‑record’ phone that Dhanveer was using. Investigators are now looking at who sent the videos to Dhanveer and with whom else have these videos were shared.
Following the viral video, the prison authorities have issued a clarification on the VVIP hospitality inside the jail. Along with the clarification, they have prepared a report. The statements of the accused have also been mentioned in the report. However, each of accused has tried to shift the blame on others. The report includes access of electronic devices, with whom they were speaking, and the year of filming the videos and by whom.

 B. A. Umesh @ Umesh Reddy: On 04‑06‑2023 he was transferred from Belagavi jail to Bengaluru. In June/July 2023 he admitted of using a mobile and said he spoke with his mother and lawyer. Umesh Reddy’s video was recorded by the sentenced prisoner Vadda Naga. In 2024, Vadda Naga completed his sentence and was released.

Juhab Hamid Shakil: In 2023 he was arrested by NIA officials. The accused admitted that he was caught while using a mobile phone but claimed that he didn’t talk to anyone. He also said he doesn’t know who filmed the the video was filmed while he was in Barrack 1. Shakil has now shaved his head while in the video, he was seen with long hair and a beard.

Tarun Konduru Raj: Close aide of gold smuggler Ranya Rao, he admitted that he caught with the mobile, but it was the sentenced prisoner Shajil Khan who did it. Shajil Khan came to his barrack and said the mobile network was not working and asked to fix it. After that, he held the mobile and fixed the network. He did not talk to anyone at that time, he said.

Shajil was released on the November 6 and the video was released on November 8, which is cause for suspicion.

 Drinks party and dance video: This video was filmed in 2022. It came to light that in 2019 when Koli Manja was imprisoned in a robbery case. In 2022, Koli Manja was released from jail and since then, he has not returned to jail.
