BENGALURU: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar on Tuesday called DG&IGP Praveen Sood as ‘nalayak’ and added that “once our goverment comes to power, we will take action against him also”.
The KPCC president, who spoke to media persons after attending a Tigala community convention, said the BJP government is trying to twist history. Replying to a question on the alleged insult to Vokkaligas by the BJP, which had erected an arch of Uri Gowda-Nanje Gowda, he said, “There was no Uri Gowda or Nanje Gowda. The BJP did not spare Kuvempu, Basavanna, Ambedkar or Narayan Guru. They are trying to distort history — that of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, Shivakumara Swamiji, Balagangadharanatha Swamiji. Where and who has heard about Nanje Gowda or Uri Gowda? This is a BJP conspiracy to deceive the entire Vokkaliga community. Srirangapatna and Sringeri have their own history”, he said.
Further, he said, “Who asked them to erect the arch of Uri Gowda and Nanje Gowda? Is there any proof of their existence? Cases should have been registered against them (BJP). The DG&IGP is a ‘nalayak’. I thought Praveen Sood was a respectable person. Cases should have been registered against the BJP leaders and they should have been arrested for making inflammatory statements. The Election Commission should shift the DG&IGP immediately. He has been in the post for three years, and how much longer do they want to keep him in the post?”
“Cases are filed against Congress leaders for launching protest, they have filed about 25 cases against us, but not one against the BJP leaders. Once our government comes to power, we will take against him also. We will take action against sll the police officers who have protected this government, those who have acted unethically listening only to BJP leaders. We know what to do”, he said.
