DAVANAGERE: A group of youths went around different parts of the city on Saturday and took those littering the streets to task. They even got some of the pick up the waste that they had thrown and dispose it properly.

The group of friends, who go around the city often and clear the streets of garbage, on Friday decided to catch those littering the streets red-handed and got them to pick it back up in dustbins. Davanagere being a Smart City, people should not be littering the streets and should make use of the door-to-door garbage collection facility, they stressed.

People were made to pick up all the waste they had dumped by the road.

Near Renuka Mandir, one of the volunteers, identified as Srikanth, caught a scooterist who had dumped waste by the roadside and got him to pick it all up. He can be heard giving a tongue-lashing to the middle-aged man to keep the city clean and not to dump waste here and there.

The efforts of the youngsters in trying to keep the city clean has come in for appreciation from many quarters.
