BENGLURU: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday likened JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda’s son-in-law Dr Manjunath contesting from the BJP to the latter party’s first suicide attempt.

Talking about HD Kumaraswamy’s displeasure over the BJP-JDS alliance, he said that former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda’s son-in-law, Dr CN Manjunath, is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Bengaluru Rural constituency. “We already know about it. But it was the first suicide attempt of JD(S) when Deve Gowda made him contest from BJP”, Shivakumar said.

“I didn’t expect it. An alliance means everyone should vote. But it was an embarrassment to his (Deve Gowda’s) party. He had his own strength. In some places, there were one or two MLAs and MPs. But this is the style of the BJP, not only in this state, but also in other states. This is his party issue, and I am not going to comment much about it”, the Deputy CM added.

Shivakumar taunted Deve Gowda and the party saying it may lose its existence due to Dr C N Manjunath contesting from the BJP.
