GADAG: A deputy tahsildar has been suspended from service under the Karnataka Civil Services Rules for assaulting a youth in the tahsildar’s office after their vehicles were involved in an accident.
On May 17, deputy tahsildar D T Valmiki, along with Congress leader Vidyadhar Doddamani and some of his associates were travelling in a car when they collided with Akshay’s two-wheeler. When Askhay questioned the deputy tahsildar, they cornered him in the tahsildar’s chamber and assaulted him.
A video of the incident was widely shared on social media. Deputy Commissioner C N Sridhar ordered suspension of Gadag-Betageri deputytahsildar Valmiki as, prima facie, dereliction of duty was established in the report submitted by the sub-divisional commissioner, and has recommended disciplinary action.
