Deputy CM Shivakumar visits Manmohan Kamat’s house, consoles family

BENGALURU: Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Urban Development Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday evening visited the places where two people, Manmohan Kamat and Dinesh, died due to electrocution during the heavy rain on Monday night. The deputy CM met the family members of the deceased on Tuesday night and condoled them.

Manmohan Kamath (63), a resident of Madhuvan Apartments in NS Palya, and Dinesh (12), son of Bharath, a Nepalese national residing in an apartment in the BTM Second Stage Dollars, Colony, NS Palya, died due to electrocution during the heavy rain that lashed the city.

Later, while speaking to the media, D K Shivakumar warned that no basement parking facilities will be allowed in low-lying areas henceforth. He said that a law will be brought in to prevent construction of basement parking facilities near lakes and low-lying areas. The government will release an action plan for this after the rains subside, he added.
