BENGALURU: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who is also in charge of Bengaluru development, on Wednesday undertook a round of the city to inspect various works. He was accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Tushar Giri Nath and Chief Engineer B S Prahalada.
However, he abruptly cut short his tour and only inspected the Jayamahal main road redevelopment and work on the rajakaluve in Vasanth Nagar. Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad too joined him. At both places, the Deputy CM made brief stops and returned.
As per the initial plan, Shivakumar was to inspect work on the rajakaluve near Ayyappa Swamy temple road and near Halasur Metro station and near Frazer Town, white-topping work on Old Madras Road, another other development works.
Later, speaking to media persons, the Deputy CM said TenderSure work is going on along 34 km in the city. “I have directed the officials to resume work that had been stalled including underground drainages. Work on filling potholes is being taken up and citizens can also send in suggestions”, he said.
“Under the Amrut Nagarothana scheme, works to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore will be taken up. I will inspect the Outer Ring Road on October 7. Work should be taken up without causing inconvenience to citizens”, he added.
