BENGALURU: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has hinted that the Shakti free travel scheme may be extended to males. He made the remark while participating in a Children’s Day programme held at Vidhana Soudha on Thursday evening.

During the event, a young boy stood up and said the government is providing free travel to his mother and sisters. He added that his mother is getting Rs 2,000 under the Gruha Laxmi scheme too and sought free travel for males too.

Responding to him, the Deputy CM said the government will discuss about free travel for males up to a certain age limit. He also sought to know from officials if children up to a certain age are allowed free travel in buses.

Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who was in Hubballi, said he was not aware of it and would speak to the Deputy CM.
