BENGALURU: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has directed the traffic police to identify bad roads and potholes, and submit a list to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in writing.
This move essentially shifts the responsibility of marking road problems from BBMP officials to the police department.
The traffic police have been asked to submit written reports on the condition of roads, including potholes and other issues, to the BBMP. City Police Commissioner B Dayananda and Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), MN Anucheth, have been directed to oversee this process.
The BBMP is expected to take immediate action upon receiving these reports and promptly repair the roads identified by the police. This development comes after the traffic police had previously requested the BBMP to address road issues to prevent road accidents, but no action was taken.
