MANDYA: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, along with other ministers, joined the Congress’ ‘Jan Andolan Yatra’ bike rally in the Mandya district on Tuesday to expose the scams done by the previous BJP-led in Karnataka including irregularities of Rs 87 crore in the Bhovi Corporation.

The Congress ‘Jan Andolan Yatra’ is to counter BJP padyatra highlighting the alleged MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) scam involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife B M Parvathi.

Reportedly, in the rally of ‘Jan Andolan Yatra’, Deputy CM D K Shivakumar played a video where opposition leaders including H D Kumaraswamy and B S Yediyurappa were scolding and making statements against each other. Speaking about the video, Shivakumar slammed the opposition leaders Kumaraswamy and Yediyurappa and said he wanted to show the public what they said about each other.

Shivakumar said, “They (BJP) think that we are saying it for a political reason…We showed what they had spoken. Kumaraswamy had said that he would see that the PM gives sanction to the Mekedatu project within five minutes…I wanted to show the public what Yediyurappa spoke about Kumaraswamy, what Kumaraswamy spoke on BJP and the PM…”

Notably, it is the fourth day of the BJP-JDS’s padayatra which started against the alleged illegal activities of the Congress-ruled government since they came to power in the state.

JDS state youth wing president Nikhil Kumaraswamy said that the JDS and BJP have started this padayatra regarding the alleged MUDA scam and the corruption that has taken place in Valmiki for the developmental works.

“We have all started this padayatra regarding the alleged MUDA scam and the corruption that has taken place in Valmiki for the developmental works. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has himself has accepted on the floor of the Assembly that Rs 89 crore has been wrongly utilised”.

Further, he stated that today marks the fourth day of the padayatra, which will come to an end on Saturday. “Today, we are entering the fourth day of the padayatra, and we will be ending it on Saturday in Neerghata. On Saturday, we will hold a big rally and convention in Mysuru. Congress is trying to divert this issue because the state is aware of the MUDA scam and Valmiki Corporation corruption that have taken place and they cannot get out of them. However, that is wrong, everyone in Karnataka is very smart”, he said. (ANI)
