BENAGLURU: White-topping work was taken up in 7 to 8 constituencies to improve infrastructure facilities. But now, it is suspected that major irregularitis were committed in the white-topping work of a Rajajinagar cross road in the Mahalaksmi Layout assembly constituency.

Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has ordered an investigation into the white-topping work atMahalakshmi Layout constituency’s Rajajinagar 10th cross road as suspicion has been raised about major irregularities in executing the project.

Deputy CM Shivakumar, who is also in charge of Bengaluru development, went around the city and inspected the white-topping works. Among them, the white topping work on Rajajinagar’s 10th Cross has raised suspicions of irregularities. DK Shivakumar himself measured the white-topping concrete using a tape and found discrepancies in the thickness.

The white topping should be six-and-half inches thick, but it’s only six inches. This pointed to irregularity, prompting the Deputy CM to order a probe.

Deputy CM D K Shivakumar said, “We have taken up white-topping work. I have visited almost seven assembly constituencies to check the quality of work and whether they are following the guidelines given by the BBMP. Quality construction work is ongoing in all constituencies except one, which is Rajajinagar Road. When I measured the thickness, it was 6 inches and is supposed to be 7 inches. I will scrutinize the documents. Our technical team will conduct a survey on it and will submit a report. Over Rs 1,700 crore is spent on white-topping works with a long vision in mind”.
