BENGALURU: A depressed man stabbed his brother-in-law multiple times to death with a knife in Hosaguddadahalli, Byatarayanapura, over a property issue. The deceased Venkatachalapathy (46) was working at the sub-registrar’s office in Malleswaram and was a resident of TR Mill.
The accused, Vishwanath, who was undergoing treatment for depression at Nimhans hospital, had rented a house in Hosaguddadahalli 15 days ago. Venkatachalapathy was providing medical treatment to him.
On the day of the incident, Vishwanath’s sister had come to visit him, but he had refused her entry into the house. When Venkatachalapathy came to question him, Vishwanath attacked him with a knife, stabbing him over 10 times, leading to his death on the spot.
After the murder, Vishwanath was roaming inside the house with the knife and told the neighbours that he had killed his brother-in-law. The locals immediately informed the police, who arrived and arrested Vishwanath. Further investigation is under way.
