Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide by consuming pesticide in Kalaburagi

KALABURGI: A 38-year-old farmer committed suicide by consuming pesticide, allegedly due to debt burden, at Bolewada village in Kalaburagi taluk on Monday. The farmer has been identified as Ravindra Bhogashetty. He ended his life on his farm land.

Ravindra Bhogashetty committed suicide as he was distressed over mounting debts.

Ravinda Bhagashetty had borrowed loan about Rs 10 lakh from Punjab National bank and Union Bank. He was distressed due to crop loss owing to diseases and mounting debt. He consumed pesticide which he brought to control weed on his land, and died.

A case has  been registered at Kalaburagi V V Police station.
