Debt-ridden businessman ends life by jumping from second floor of Mantri Mall

BENGALURU: A debt-ridden businessman committed suicide by jumping from the second floor of Mantri Mall in Malleswaram area around 9 pm on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Manjunath (55).

A resident of Ullal Upanagara, Manjunath had taken loans of Rs 2 crore, which he was unable to repay. He ran an electrical shop in the locality.

In his suicide note, Manjunath mentioned that he had taken loans of Rs 2 crore and was unable to repay it in this lifetime. He stated that no one was responsible for his death and that he was the sole cause of his death.

Manjunath also mentioned that he had suffered a lot in his life. In his suicide note, he also apologised to all his lenders and had also written the contact numbers of his family members.

The deceased’s friend Paramesh said, “I was a friend of the Manjunatha for over 40 years. He was a good person and his death has come a shock. We used to talk well whenever we met. I contacted Manjunat’s brother in the morning after hearing the news. I had no information about his loans. He was running an electrical shop and was also involved in real estate business”.
