BENGALURU: With the deadline for fixing of high security registration plates (HSRP) ending on Sunday, the Transport Department, which had planned to start levying fines from September 16, will now go easy for two days as a related case is coming up in the Karnataka High Court on September 18.
Crores of vehicles registered prior to 2019 are yet to switch over to HSRP and in all likelihood, the government may further extend the deadline. So far, the traffic police have not received any communication on levying fines on vehicle owners who have not fixed HSRP.
Additional Transport Commissioner Mallikarjun told Public TV, “A case related to HSRP is coming up for hearing on September 18 while the verdict in another case was delivered on September 12. We have not received the orders yet and we hope to get it on Tuesday as Monday is a public holiday. The verdict in the second case is expected by Tuesday afternoon and based on that, we will decide the next course of action”.
