Day-long puja at Gavi Gangadhareshwara, Kadu Malleshwara temples in city, across the state, for Mahashivaratri

BENGALURU: The festival of Shivaratri was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the state. Special pujas and abhisheka were performed since early on Wednesday morning at popular Lord Shiva temples across the state, including Gavi Gangadhareshwara and Kadu Malleshwara temples in Bengaluru on the occasion of Mahashivaratri.

The temples were decorated with various flowers, including bilva leaves, which are dear to Lord Shiva. Devotees had been gathering at the temples since morning to catch a glimpse of the lord.

Special Rudrabhisheka was performed on the Shivalinga, and the temples has been decorated with various flowers. Devotees waited in long queues to offer their prayers.

The Gavi Gangadhareshwara temple will remain open till the morning of February 27 morning, and devotees were seen visiting the temple throughout the night. The police had made arrangements to ensure the safety and security of the devotees. In view of the large number of devotees gathering at the temple, the police had banned vehicular movement on the roads surrounding the temple.

Special programme were organised at temples, which will continue till tomorrow morning. The number of devotees was expected to increase later in the night. Devotees observe fasting during the auspicious day.

Similarly, at the Kadu Malleshwara temple, a large number of devotees have gathered to offer their prayers. The temple has been decorated with flowers, and devotees were seen waiting in long queues to catch a glimpse of Lord Shiva, and the police have made arrangements to ensure their safety and security.

Special programmes were organised at numerous temples across the state as part of the Shivaratri jagaran.
