BENGALURU: The truckers association’s indefinite strike entered its second day on Wednesday, but trucks were still arriving at the Yeshwantpur APMC market. Although the number of trucks has decreased, essential goods like onions, rice and cereals are being transported.

Due to yesterday’s rain, trucks were parked in sheds. On the second day of the strike, there has been no significant disruption in the supply of essential goods.

The truck union had stated that more vehicles would be off the road compared to the first day. On Wednesday, truckloads arrived in Taragupet, but the number of trucks has decreased compared to usual. The market, which usually sees around 200 trucks daily, has seen a significant drop in numbers.

Taragupet is a hub for all kinds of commercial activities, and hundreds of trucks used to arrive here daily. With the truck strike entering the second day on Wednesday, farmers are struggling to transport their ragi crops.

At the Nelamangala ragi procurement centre, farmers are facing difficulties due to the truckers strike. The farmers expressed their frustration and anger towards the government and officials, as they have been waiting for four to five days in the rain and Sun.

The farmers are worried that their ragi crops, which they have grown throughout the year, might get damaged due to the rain and the truckers’ strike. They are demanding that the government arrange for trucks to transport their crops immediately. The strike has also led to an increase in tractor rental prices, adding to the farmers’ woes. Some farmers have resorted to using tarpaulins to protect their crops from the rain.
