Davanagere woman cheated of Rs 12 lakh with promise of remuneration for hotel reviews

DAVANAGERE: A 34-year-old housewife from Bhumika Nagar here was duped of Rs 12 lakh by scammers who promised her good remuneration by writing reviews for hotels.

The woman received a WhatsApp message with a link, which led her to a fake website that promised her a way to earn money by writing hotel reviews.

Initially, she was paid Rs 1,200 to build her trust. However, the scammers later asked her to complete more tasks, and she ended up losing Rs 12 lakh from her account.

The woman has filed a complaint with the CEN police station, and the authorities are investigating the matter.
