DAVANAGERE: A police dog helped nab the culprit in a murder case within one hour of reaching the crime scene at Honnur Gollarahatti village. The police dog, Tara, has come in for praise from different quarters for solving the crime quickly.
Jayappa, a resident of Honnur Gollarahatti, had murdered Shivakumar (28) of Hegadehala village in Chitradurga district as the latter had an illicit affair with his wife Parimala. The woman had continued her relationship with Shivakumar even after marriage.
Shivakumar had come to Honnur Gollarahatti to meet Parimala and Jayappa had spotted them at a farm. Angered on seeing them together, Jayappa killed Shivakumar by crushing his head with a stone.
The Davanagere Rural police arrived at the village along with police dog Tara which tracked Jayappa’s scent till his house. When the police questioned Parimala, she revealed about the murder.
Davanagere Police Superintendent Uma Prashanth has appreciated the action of Tara and the Rural police in solving the murder case swiftly.
