Dasara rituals to start in Mysuru palace from October 9

MYSURU: With the countdown having begun for the 10-day Dasara festivities, the calendar of events which will be held at the Mysuru palace was announced on Thursday.

As per the schedule, the golden throne will be brought out on October 9 between 10.05 am and 10.35 am after various rituals start right from 7 am. The howdah elephant, the pattada kudure (horse) and cow will also be brought to the goshala.

On October 15, the golden throne will be assembled in the auspicious time between 6 am and 6.25 am. Mysuru royal family scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar and his wife Trishika Kumari will participate in various rituals at the Vani Vilas palace.

The puja to the golden throne will be performed at 10.15 am and a private durbar will be be held for an hour from 10.30 am. In the afternoon, the idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari will be moved from the Chamundi Thotti to the Kannadi Thotti.

Yaduveer and his wife will perform Ayudha puja in the afternoon on October 23 after completing various other rituals right from the morning. The next day, Vijayadashami will be celebrated after which the famous golden throne will be returned to the strong room.
