BENGALURU: Darshan’s licenced weapon was seized from his Vijayalakshmi Flat, by the Chennammanakere Achukattu police as the license has been temporarily suspended on the direction of Police Commissioner B Dayananda.
Following the police commissioner’s order, the RR Nagar police had issued notice to surrender it. But Darshan delayed responding. The decision was made as the gun license was found to be in Darshan’s name, and the police had already issued a notice to suspend the licence due to the ongoing case.
As per the notice, since Darshan is an accused in the Renukaswamy murder case, there is a possibility that he may influence witnesses or threaten them using the gun. Darshan had delayed surrendering his gun.
According to police, an accused involved in a case where the punishment is more than three years and is found to be in possession of a licenced gun, it will be seized immediately. The person’s license may also be canceled. Since the use of a licenced gun was not found anywhere in the Renukaswamy murder case, the police have decided to temporarily suspend it until the case is completed.
Earlier, the police had issued a notice about canceling the license and set a week’s deadline for Darshan to respond on that matter. Darshan had responded to the notice stating that as a celebrity, he needs the gun for self-protection and assured that he did not misuse the gun during the case. However, the police have now temporarily suspended the licence and seized the weapon.
