BENGALURU: Sandalwood actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who was discharged from the BGS Gleneagles Hospital on Thursday, where he was undergoing treatment ever since his release from jail on bail, has run up bills of Rs 17 lakh for his hospital stay.
Darshan, who was arrested along with sixteen others for the murder of Renukaswamy, a resident of Chitradurga, had secured interim bail for six weeks citing the need for medical attention. He had been undergoing conservative treatment at the hospital over the last 46 days and no surgery was performed.
The bills include ward charges, physiotherapy, consultation fees, medical tests, X-rays and scans. Sources said the bills would have gone up had the actor undergone surgery.
Last Friday, the Karnataka High Court granted regular bail to seven accused in the brutal murder of Renukaswamy, including actor Darshan and his friend Pavithra Gowda. The bail was granted by a bench headed by Justice Vishwajith Shetty.
Actress Pavitra Gowda is the main accused in the Renukaswamy murder case while Darshan, Nagaraj, Lakshman, Anukumar, Jagadish and Pradosh are the other accused.
Darshan was arrested on June 11 as he was in constant contact with the murder accused who brought him to Bengaluru. Renukaswamy, a native of Chitradurga, was murdered on June 8 this year. He was allegedly murdered for posting obscene texts about Pavitra Gowda on social media.
