RAMANAGARA: Wary that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar’s nomination from Kanakapura may be rejected over discrepancies over his assets and his declaration, his brother and Bangalore Rural MP D K Suresh filed his nomination on Thursday for the May 10 Assembly polls.

Speaking to media persons after filing his nomination from Kanakapura, D K Suresh said, “I filed the nomination on the instruction of the party president and the AICC leaders. There is talk about some conspiracies being hatched and, as a precautionary measure, I have filed my nomination. The BJP has targeted D K Shivakumar and they have said so themselves because they know that they don’t have the support of the electorate and the people of Kanakapura will not let their tricks work”.

“Almost every day, there are notices from central agencies and court hearings. A few days ago, the Income Tax officals from Chennai had issued a notice demanding Shivakumar’s personal presence there, but we have sought time in view of the elections. The BJP can misuse the official machinery to target D K Shivakumar. We have anticipated what they could do and the people of Kanakapura will make their verdict known on May 13. There is no question of us yielding to anyone”, Suresh said.
