KARWAR, UDUPI: A yellow alert has been sounded in Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts due to the effects of Cyclone Montha. Fishing activities have been restricted for the next three days. The strong winds and rough seas have forced fishing boats from Karnataka and other states to anchor at ports.

The cyclone, which made landfall in the Bay of Bengal along the Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coast on Tuesday night, has brought significant damage. Its impact is being felt in the Arabian Sea, causing a low-pressure system and rough seas off the Karnataka coast.

As a result, traditional fishermen have also suspended their activities. Fishing boats from Karnataka and other states have been anchored at ports for the past three days, and the alert is expected to remain in place for the next three days. The strong winds and rough seas have made it difficult for fishing activities to resume.

Cyclone Montha has had an impact on the Karnataka coast, causing rough seas and strong winds. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Udupi district also, warning of strong winds and rough seas.

The high waves have caused erosion on the Mattu beach at Kaup in Udupi, and the district administration has alerted residents and fishermen to be cautious. The rough seas have also disrupted fishing activities, with fishermen being advised not to venture into the sea for the next few days.

The weather department has predicted strong winds and rough seas, and residents have been advised to be prepared for any eventuality. The situation is being closely monitored, and necessary precautions are being taken to minimize damage.
