BENGALURU: A private company’s server was hacked, and cybercriminals stole a whopping Rs 3.78 crore by transferring cryptocurrency. The incident occurred in Whitefield.
The police have arrested the company’s employee, Rahul, who is the accused. The company provides services as a cryptocurrency exchange platform.
According to the police, around 2.37 am on July 30, 1 USDT (Tether) was transferred from the company’s wallet to another wallet. Later, at 9.40 am, the hackers gained entry into the server and transferred 44 million USDT (worth Rs 378 crore).
The internal investigation revealed that the accused had worked on the company’s laptop for part-time work and received Rs 15 lakh. He allegedly hacked the company’s server using the laptop and stole the cryptocurrency.
The cryptocurrency company, Nebilo Technologies, has filed a complaint with the Whitefield Cyber Crime police station. This is said to be one of the biggest cyber frauds in Karnataka and the police are searching for other accused individuals.
