Cyber criminals attempt to target Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty, complaint filed

BENGALURU: Cyber criminals tried to target Rajya Sabha member and Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murty, by claiming that the mobile number was not linked to her Aadhaar number. The cyber crime police have registered a case and taken up further investigation.

On September 5, an unidentified individual called Sudha Murty claiming to be an employee of the Ministry of Telecommunications. The caller alleged that Murthy’s phone number was not registered with her Aadhaar card and requested personal details. He also claimed that obscene videos were being shared from her number and added that he had managed to stop it.

However, when checked on Truecaller, it showed the caller’s identity as Telecom Department following which a complaint as lodged with the cyber crime police station who have taken up further investigation.
