MYSURU: The issue over controversial bus shelter on the Mysuru-Nanjangud Road seems to have been sorted out after two smaller domes of three were removed, according to the press release from Krishnaraja MLA S A Ramadass.

The MLA said that the domes on the bus shelter were removed so that it does not become a disputed structure. He sid 12 more bus shelters will be constructed with a similar design.

“My intention was to build a model of the Mysuru palace. I am pained by the unnecessary religious colour the issue had taken. I have discussed this with the senior advisers and taken a decision regarding development of the constituency. No one should draw any meaning into it”, Ramadass said in the release.

Two domes have been removed after a controversy broke out over the design of the bus shelter.

The issue had been a hot topic for 20 days with Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha setting a deadline to remove it. He had even threatened to bring an earthmover and demolish it if the domes were not removed. The NHAI then intervened in the dispute and a notice was issued to Karnataka Road Infrastructure Development Ltd (KRIDL).

Amidst the controversy, the MLA had declared that he was ready to apologise and even bear the cost of construction. He had also requested not to be dragged into the issue.

On Saturday night, following a discussion between the parties involved, the two small domes were removed, perhaps drawing the curtains on the controversial issue.
