BENGALURU: The festival of lights, Deepavali, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the state. Huge crowds are flocking KR Market in Bengaluru to buy flowers and fruits. The market is crowded with customers and the roads leading to it are jam-packed.
The traffic congestion is severe, with long queues on Avenue Road and KR Market. Parking facilities have been arranged on the KR Market flyover, stretching up to a kilometer. People were seen busy purchasing puja items.
Due to continuous rains, flower prices have increased. Ahead of the festival, people are buying flowers like Crossandra (kanakambara), jasmine, chrysanthemum, string white kakada, Tuberose, Nerium oleander, and lotus flowers.
The prices of flowers are as follows:
– Crossandra for Rs 1,300 to 1,600 per kg
– Jasmine flowers for Rs 700-900 per kg
– String white kakada flowers for Rs 700-800 per kg
– Chrysanthemum for Rs 80 per kg
– Roses and Nerium oleander for Rs 500 per kg
– Tuberose for 500 per kg
– Lotus flowers (pair) for Rs 150,
– Banana stem for Rs 150 a pair.
