BENGALURU: A cow was electrocuted to death near a transformer at Agrahara village in Yelahanka, raising questions about Bescom’s maintenance and safety measures. The incident occurred when the cow walked near a transformer with exposed live cables, resulting in its death.

The cow’s death potentially saved human lives, as people were in the vicinity. Locals claim a short circuit occurred in the transformer leading to the cow’s death. The incident has sparked protests with demands for compensation for the cow’s owner and improved safety measures.

Chikkahanumegowda, the cow’s owner, relies on his cattle for livelihood. He demanded compensation and accountability from Bescom for the loss. “The cow was electrocuted and died. After the Bescom staff came and turned off the electricity, we took the cow aside. The cow, which used to give 20 litres of milk daily, died of the a short circuit and BESCOM should bear the responsibility for this death”, he said.
