BENGALURU: Several courts and government establishments received bomb threat emails on Tuesday, sparking a security scare. After hours of thorough searches the emails were deemed as hoax.
In Bengaluru, a case was registered at Koramangala police station in connection with the threatening email sent to the Passport Office. The complaint was filed by Passport Office officials, stating that they received an email threatening to bomb the office.
The email threatened to blow up the Passport Office, causing concern among staff and visitors. The police have taken the threat seriously and the area around the Passport Office is being closely monitored by the police.
The Dharwad bench of the Karnataka High Court received a threatening email claiming a bomb would be detonated, prompting authorities to evacuate the premises and conduct a thorough search.
Shantaveer Shivappa, Registrar of the Dharwad High Court, stated that the email was likely a hoax and that security measures were being taken. “We informed the police, and they’re taking necessary action. We’ve also increased security, and everyone will be screened before entering the court,” he said.
Police Superintendent Gunjan Arya, who visited the scene, assured that there was no cause for concern. “We’ve searched the premises, and no explosives have been found. It’s likely a false alarm. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and take necessary action,” he said.
The email claimed the bomb would be detonated by 1.55 pm and mentioned a possible suicide attack. However, authorities believe it’s a hoax email aimed at disrupting court proceedings. Court proceedings resumed after a search, and security has been heightened.
In Mysuru, the district court received a threatening email claiming that a bomb had been planted in the premises. The email warned of a blast by 1.45 pm on Tuesday.
Following the threat, judges, lawyers, clients and court staff were evacuated from the court complex. A bomb squad and dog squad searched the premises as a precautionary measure.
The Hassan district court also received a threatening email claiming a bomb has been planted in the premises. Following the threat, court staff were evacuated, and authorities were alerted.
As it was lunchtime, there were fewer lawyers and people in the court. The judge informed the police about the email, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Gangadharappa, visited the scene.
A bomb disposal squad searched the court premises, including the parking area. Despite the threat, court proceedings continued later on.

The public was evacuated from the office as a precautionary measure. Further investigation is under way.

The email, allegedly sent by someone named Mohammed Vikram Rajguru, warned that bombs would be detonated during lunchtime by staff members, using RDX and IEDs.
The bomb disposal squad and dog squad conducted a thorough search of the premises. The district administration and police are on high alert, and court proceedings were halted, with lawyers and staff expressing concern for their safety.
