BENGALURU: A sessions court in the city, which took up the prosecution plea to shift actor Darshan Thoogudeepa to the Ballari jail from the Parappanna Agrahara prison here, put off further hearing to Wednesday.

The court also put off hearing on Darshan’s plea to be provided with a blanket, matress and pillow in the prison cell. Darshan is the second accused in the Renukaswamy murder case.

The Supreme Cout had, on August 14, had cancelled the bail granted to Darshan, Pavithra Gowda and five other accused by the Karnataka High Court and had ordered their immediate arrest. After he was brought to the Parappana Agrahara prison, the prosecution approached the court seeking to shift him to Ballari jail citing security concerns.

Meanwhile, the 57th sessions court on Tuesday dismissed the bail application of Pavithra Gowda. She is the first accused in the Chitradurga Renukaswamy murder case.

Pavithra Gowda’s lawyers had filed the bail application citing technical grounds. Her lawyer Balan argued that the chargesheet was filed under the CrPC instead of the BNSS, which is illegal.

The court had earlier reserved its order for September 2 after hearing the arguments and, on Tuesday, dismissed the bail application.
