Couple, who died in Yelahanka suspected to be in illicit affair

BENGALURU: A couple who died in a fire at a lodge in Yelahanka, is suspected of having an illicit affair. The incident took place around 5 pm on Thursday. The deceased couple were identified as Ramesh from Gadag and Kaveri from Bagalkot.

As soon as the fire broke out in the lodge, the staff there informed the fire department. When they arrived and inspected the scene, it was found that Ramesh had died of burn injuries and the woman had suffocated to death.

It is said that the two were in love with each other. There was a fight between the two, and Ramesh poured petrol on himself and tried to pour petrol on the woman. At this time, the woman went into the bathroom and closed the door. Then, Ramesh set himself on fire and poured petrol on the bathroom door and set it on fire. This is why it is suspected that the entire lodge was engulfed in fire.

Yhe Yelahanka New Town police have taken up an investigation, and it is yet to be known whether it was a suicide or a fire accident.

There is also information that the man and the woman had been in the lodge for a week. On Thursday, around 3 pm, Ramesh brought petrol from outside. There was a scuffle between the two inside the room.

It is being said that Ramesh poured petrol and tried to pour it on her. The investigation is underway.

Eastern Zone Joint Commissioner of Police Ramesh Banoth, briefingn about the incident, said that the woman took shelter in the bathroom when the fire broke out, while the man died due to burn injuries. The woman, who was locked inside the bathroom, succumbed to suffocation, he said.

The police are investigating the cause of the fire, the circumstances leading to it, and whether there was an altercation between the two individuals. The woman, originally from Bagalkot, was married with three children and had moved to Bengaluru, where she worked at a spa. The man, from Gadag, was a labourer. The two knew each other, and their relationship is being probed.

The police are looking into the sequence of incidents, including a reported quarrel between the couple and the possibility of someone else being involved. A person claiming to be the woman’s brother had visited the lodge before the incident, and the police are investigating if this has any connection to the tragic event
