Couple falls at auto driver’s feet and apologises after assault

BENGALURU: Following the growing outrage over the incident in which a Hindi-speaking woman allegedly slapped an autorickshw driver with her footwear, the woman and her husband have apologised to the driver. The couple fell at the driver’s feet and apologised, saying that they have respect for auto drivers and love Bengaluru and its culture.

The woman, regretting her arrogant behaviour with the auto driver, said it was unintentional and that she was sorry for what happened. She added that she was pregnant and had spoken out of fear of miscarriage.

She expressed her love for Bengaluru and its culture. The woman’s husband also apologized and said that they have been living in Bengaluru for three years and consider it their home.

An FIR had been registered against the woman at the Bellandur police station in connection with the incident. The police had called her in for questioning and recorded her statement. During inquiry, the woman admitted to assaulting the auto driver with her footwear. She claimed that the auto had brushed against her two-wheeler, which led to an argument and subsequently the altercation.

The woman said that she lost her temper and hit the driver with her slipper. The police recorded her statement and let her go after questioning.
