HAVERI: A young girl died after consuming poison along with her boyfriend while they were travelling in a sleeper coach bus early on Tuesday. The youth has recovered and has been discharged from the hospital.
The incident took place near the Green Palace hotel near Chalageri toll in Ranebennur, where the lovers went to sleep in the upper berth of the sleeper coach bus after consuming poison. The deceased woman has been Hema Ramakrishnappa (20).
Hema was a B.Com final year student and was in love with Akhil, who is hailed from Bagalkot. But their parents objected to the relationship and did not permit their marriage. This apparently provoked them to take the extreme step.
Before they died, Hema contacted her parent saying that she got know that they will not consent to their marriage and that she was going to Mumbai. Later, she and her boyfriend consumed poison and slept in the sleeper coach.
When the bus stopped for dinner, the passengers on the bus got suspicious as they smelt some poison in the bus. The passengers and some locals immediately shifted the duo them to a hospital, but the young woman breathed her last.
The youth has recovered and has been discharged from hospital. A case has been registered in Ranebennur police station in this connection.
