MANDYA: A couple committed suicide by hanging themselves due to a family dispute at K Shettihalli village in Srirangapatna taluk on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Purushottama (45) and Vidya (32). The woman committed suicide by hanging at home when Purushottama was out for work. After hearing about his wife’s death, he went to the farm next to the house and hanged himself. Purushottama was working at a private company in Mysuru. The couple fought frequently and, tired of this, both committed suicide. The deceased couple has two children, aged seven and five.
A case has been registered at the Srirangapatna Rural police station. The police visited the spot and conducted an investigation. The bodies have been sent to the government hospital for post-mortem examination.
